Rick Turner Wins CRA Super Series Late Model Event

Anderson Speedway hosted a special Father’s Day event at Anderson Speedway as the CRA Super Series came to the high banks to run the postponed Ivy Tech 125 presented by Great Deals Magazine. Also on the schedule were ThunderCars, Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro, and ImmediaDent Figure 8’s.

In the CRA Super Series Late Model event, Jeff Lane jumped out to an early lead over pole sitter Zach Taylor in the Ivy Tech 125 presented by Great Deals, before an accident right in front of the leaders gathered him up and ended his day on lap 17. Brian Rievley took the lead on lap 17 and held it until a bump with a lap car sent him spinning into the turn 1 wall on lap 109, giving the lead to Rick Turner who help on to win his second CRA Super Series race at Anderson Speedway.

"It was lap cars, cautions and tight racing was the story out there tonight." Turner stated. "I have to thank my crew and my sponsor, Great Deals and all my friends that came out to watch us tonight!"

Fast Qualifier Jason Shivley finished second, Scott Hantz came back from an early race accident to finish third, Boris Jurkovic finished fourth and Rievley recovered to finish fifth.

Travis Burge took the lead in the ThunderCars on the 24th lap of the 25 lap feature to win a close race over Muncie’s James Gann. Darryl Rogers finished third, Lonny Burton fourth and Tom Tackett fifth. Burton was the fast qualifier who then drew a half invert giving him the ninth starting position.

The rest of the racing was washed out when a strong storm moved into the area. The ImmediaDent Figure 8’s and the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro will run double features the next time they are scheduled to race.

Anderson Speedway returns to action on Friday, June 20 with the WLBC / MAX Friday Night Summer Series featuring Kenyon Midgets, ThunderCars and Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.

On Saturday, June 21, the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprint Cars return to Anderson Speedway. Other divisions scheduled to be part of the racing program include Street Stocks and ImmediaDent Figure 8’s.
