WLBC/MAX Summer Series on Friday Night, Family Fun Night on Saturday

Anderson Speedway returns to action on Friday, Night, September 19 with the WLBC/MAX Friday Night Summer Series. Featured divisions include Newco Metals Legends, ThunderCars, Mini Cups and Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives in Amateur and Figure 8 action.

On Saturday, September 20, Family Fun Night will take place at the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval. The program will include Kids Bicycle Races, Stunt Metal Motorcycle Show, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Mini Cups and Powder Puff Front Wheel Drives.

Heading into Friday’s night action, defending Newco Metals Legends champion John Robbins holds a 181 point lead over Billy Smith. The remainder of the top five includes Mark Dietzen, Clark Dietzen and Adam Roberts.

After finishing in the second position last year in the final ThunderCar point standings, Lonny Burton continues to chase this year’s crown. He leads Sam Folsom by 55 markers with Tom Tacket, Travis Burge and Tim Nickerson rounding out the top five.

In the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Amateur division, veteran Kevin Harmon holds 75 point lead over Andy Keller. Newcomer Jeff Saxon ranks in third position with Jared Keller and Ray Zirkle filling out the top five.

Andy Keller paces the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s standings with a healthy margin over Harry Lashure. Third is Donnie Ellis Jr. with Jared Keller and Peter Corsaro completing the top five.

On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the racing program beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.

Anderson Speedway will feature Kids Bicycle Races on Saturday, September 20 as part of the Family Fun Night. The Kids Bicycle races will begin at 7 p.m. and include several divisions with two free bikes awarded to Kids on Saturday Night.

The USAC Indiana Ford Focus Midgets will make a return trip on Saturday night as part of the Family Fun Night. Kyle Hamilton enters the event as the points leader.

Mini Cups will also make another 2008 visit with Michigan’s Tim Phillips earning the victory in a mid-season race in July.

The Front Wheel Drive Powder Puffs and Stunt Metal Motorcycle will also be featured in the Family Fun Night event.

On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program beginning at 8. Admission is $5 for adults and free for 12 and under.
