Lundy Gets Third Feature Victory of Season; Rose, Phipps Claim Heat Victories
For the third time in five weeks Hannah Lundy climbed on the top of her WMDH ThunderCar to celebrate a feature victory on Saturday at Anderson Speedway.

Lundy took the lead at the start and was able to open a sizeable lead on Rod Phipps, Rod Wyman Sr., Ronnie Rose and Rob Allman.

Rose was the driver on the move passing Wyman on the third lap entering turn three for the third position and then on lap 16 used the high line to get outside of Phipps for second place.

While there was a heated battle for the second and third positions, Hannah appeared on the way to an easy victory. But that all changed on lap 21 when Tom Tacket spun in turn two. Wyman was forced to the pits with a flat left front tire ending his night.

With her lead evaporated in a second Lundy was able to get a jump on Rose at the start and went on to win by .8-seconds with Phipps, Jason Thompson and Allman rounding out the top five.

“Rod (Phipps) said I was going to win tonight,” Lundy said in victory lane. “I’ll have to talk to him every night.”

Phipps led the entire distance to record his eighth heat win of the season, chased by Lundy for most of the race. Allman was able to get inside of Ronald Adams on the fourth circuit.

Phipps beat Lundy to the checkers by .3-seconds followed by Allman and Adams.

In the second heat race Rose jumped into the start chased by Wyman, Earl Adams II, Tacket and Rob Noel. Noel faded late in the race which allowed Bruce McFall to claim the fifth position.

Qualifying for the Thunder Cars was extremely tight with five drivers all within a tenth of a second of each other. Lundy grabbed the honors with a lap of 14.819-seconds followed by Wyman at 14.833-seconds and Phipps at 14.846-seconds.
