Weather Postpones Weekend Activities
(April
12, 2011) –
Mother Nature has once again played havoc on the
coming weekend activities at Anderson Speedway. Forecasted cold
temperatures, heavy rains, wind and even the possibility of snow flurries
have caused officials from Anderson Speedway to reschedule the Seal Wrap 125
for the CRA Super Series to May 7th. The support division races, along with
the practice set for Friday night, have also been postponed.
“This is a huge event annually at our track with many visitors and
competitors from out of town, and as always, I want the fans and competitors
to be treated to the best possible conditions for it”, said Rick Dawson,
President of Anderson Speedway. “Normally this is a little early to postpone
an event due to weather, however many of the fans and competitors come from
out of state and it would be a huge expense for them to travel here and then
not be able to race. Besides that, I do not enjoy watching racing while I'm
shivering, except of course, on New Years Day."
The CRA Super Series event "The Seal Wrap 125 presented by Great Deals" will
be run on Saturday, May 7th along with the Anderson Speedway Late Models,
WMDH ThunderCars and Front Wheel Drive Figure 8's. There will be a open
practice for all cars held on Friday, May 6th. In addition the Front Wheel
Drive Oval cars scheduled for this Saturday will run their makeup event on
Friday, April 29th along with the Enduro 200. The WMDH ThunderCars will make
up their race on Saturday, June 25th.
"Fortunately this unusual weather is occurring early in the season and we
are able to reschedule all events so the fans will still be treated to one
of the most exciting racing schedules in the Speedway's history. It has been
a tough winter and spring has not been much better. I am confident it will
break soon and the weather will be favorable for some great racing"
continued Dawson.
Racing resumes on Saturday, April 23rd with the CRA Late Model Sportsman
Series, CRA Street Stocks and Figure 8’s. Gates will open at 3:30 with
racing beginning at 7 on Saturday, April 23rd.
