ThunderCar Enduro on Friday, U.S. Air Force Night of Thrills Showcased on Saturday Night

(April 27, 2011) – A big double header weekend of racing action is set for Anderson Speedway on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30.

The weekend begins on Friday with the rescheduled ThunderCar Enduro joined with Front Wheel Drive Oval Legends and Last Chance Wrecker Thunder Roadsters. On Saturday night, the U.S. Air Force Night of Thrills will be showcased with IOFS Outlaw Figure 8’s, School Bus Figure 8’s, Culver’s Trailer Race, Backwards Race and Cork Screw Race.

The ThunderCar Enduro will feature some of the top drivers from the region in a 200-lap event. Last year, Rob Allman earned the March victory with Nick Warner and Rob Wyman Sr. following the race winner. Rod Phipps captured the October event with Ronnie Rose and Hannah Lundy completing the podium finishers.

Jeff Williams collected the Front Wheel Drive Oval feature victory on April 2. Ron Phipps crossed the finish line in second spot with Kevin Henson listed in third. Kevin Harmon and John Davis Jr. rounded out the top five.

James Edsall continued his dominance of the Last Chance Wrecker Thunder Roadsters after winning the April 9 feature. Former Legends competitor Al Renner earned runner-up honors with Aaron Holden in third position.

On Friday, April 29, spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with the racing beginning at 7. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.

Race fans will be entertained on Saturday Night with the exciting U.S. Air Force Night of Thrills events from the IOFS Outlaw Figure 8’s, School Bus Figure 8’s, Culver’s Trailer Race, Backwards Race and Cork Screw Race.

Last season, IOFS made three stops at Anderson with Jeff Shackleford (April), R.J. Norton Jr. (July) and Doug Greig (October) earning feature victories. A strong field of competitors is expected for the series opener.

Danny Stanley is the most recent winner in the School Bus Figure 8’s, with Stanley and Nick Warner earning the winning hardware in the most recent Culver’s Trailer Races. Kevin Henson scored the feature in last October’s Cork Screw race.

On Saturday, April 30, spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with the racing beginning at 7. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
