Rose Scores CRA Street Stock Win

(August 20, 2011) – After a season of more than his share of bad luck, Ronnie Rose turned his fortunes around Saturday at Anderson Speedway with a win in EDCO Welding CRA Street Stock feature.

Rose took the lead on a restart on lap 34 when he was able to get inside of Jimmy Kirby entering turn three. From there Rose survived another restart with 18 laps remaining and worked his way patiently through lapped traffic to win by 1.22 seconds over Kirby.

It appeared that Rose’s change of fortune survived just long enough to record the win when his car erupted in smoke coming to the checkered flag.

“Coming off turn four I wanted to light up the tires,” Rose explained of his early celebration. “Instead I tore out the drives shaft. I’m just so happy to get this win. Maybe my luck has turned.”

Following Rose and Kirby to the checkers were Ryan Amonett, Frankie Oakes and Jeff Lane.

The early lead was taken by Josh Myers, who benefitted from the inversion of the top 12 qualifiers; he was initially chased by Rob Allman, Kirby, Dave Bice and Jason Drummond.

Kirby showed he was going to be a contender the entire 75-lap distance when along with Bice they made an inside move on Allman on the front straight. Bice moved into second on lap 1 with an outside pass of Kirby in turn one and took the point on lap 14 with a pass of Myers going down the back straight.

Bice remained in front until lapped traffic impeded his progress, which allowed Kirby to take the point on lap 28 with an outside move in turn three. Bice tried to retake the position three laps later, but suffered a flat tire forcing him to the pits and out of contention.

Point’s leader Lane, the Herald Bulletin fast qualifier, also was forced to pit during a caution period, but recovered to finish fifth.
