Rose Wins Figure 8 Action

(September 12, 2011) – Veteran driver Ronnie Rose didn’t set the fast time during qualifications in the Figure-8 division, but he did score the heat and feature action at Anderson Speedway on Cooper Sport Bowl Family Night.

Rose and fast qualifier Josh Tharp staged a heated battle for the top spot with Tharp repeatedly looking to get the preferred inside line, a line that Rose wasn’t willing to surrender.

With Rose and Tharp battling for the top spot there was plenty of action behind them. On lap three Jeff Swinford made contact with Nick Warner on the front straight near the cross-over, sending Warner to a skidding stop. Both drivers were sent to the tail of the field.

During the restart James Peterson and Rodney Milliner got together coming off the second corner, with Peterson spinning to a stop on the front straight, ending his night.

On lap 10, Swinford and Curtis Chapman swapped paint in turn one, sending both drivers to the rear of the field.

Rose held off Tharp by .265-seconds with Warner recovering to finish third followed by Chapman and Swinford.

In the heat race Rose gained the lead on lap four when Peterson spun in the cross-over while leading. Following Rose to the checkers were Tharp, Swinford, Warner and Chapman
