Allman Dominates WMDH ThunderCar Action

By Ken de la Bastide

(July 10, 2012) –
Rob Allman has been close to winning a WMDH Thunder Car feature and finally found the right set-up to score the victory.

Josh Myers making his second start of the season in a Thunder Car jumped into the lead at the start chased by Allman, Earl Adams II, fast qualifier Hannah Lundy and Eddie Richardson.

Lundy moved into the third spot on lap two with an inside pass of Adams entering turn one. But that pass was negated when the lone caution flag waved for debris on the front straight.

On the restart Lundy moved around Adams on the front straight. Allman grabbed the top spot with a power move around Myers on the front straight on lap three and started to pull away from the rest of the pack.

Lundy got inside of Myers entering turn three, but was never able to challenge Allman for the victory, finishing 2.8-seconds back. Myers finished third followed by Adams and Richardson.

Allman scored the victory in the first heat race leading the entire distance. While Allman was running on the point there was plenty of action behind him.

Lundy passed Adams on lap four to move into the fifth spot. On lap six Myers got inside of Pam Neal on the back straight to claim the second spot and before the lap was completed both Phil Jenkins and Lundy passed Neal in turns three and four.

Following Allman to the checkers was Myers, Jenkins, Lundy and Adams. It was Allman’s third heat win of the year.

Ryan Buckner recorded his second heat win of the season leading the entire distrance. Chris Synder passed Dustin Foust on lap two going down the back straight and Richardson got by Foust on the front straight a lap later for third. Trent Gossar came home fourth with Foust rounding out the top five.
