Terry Goff Victorious in UMRA Competition

By Ken de la Bastide

(October 8, 2012) –
In what has become a familiar story line whenever the UMRA Midgets come to Anderson, Terry Goff emerged as the winner.

Fast qualifier Kevin Blue took the early lead but it only took Goff four laps to close and make the pass for the lead entering turn three.

Behind the two front-runners Carey “Oogie” Goff, passed Jason Goff with an outside move in turn two and then got around rookie Tristan Maggart entering turn four on lap six of the 25-lap feature.

Maggart lost the fourth spot to Jason Goff on lap eight, but four laps later Goff’s engine erupted in flames, but it didn’t produce a caution flag.

With Terry Goff maintaining a steady cushion over Blue, Maggart, a resident of Lapel, was able to claim the third spot from Oogie Goff with an outside pass on the front straight on lap 18.

Terry Goff went on to win by 1-second over Blue followed by Maggart, Oogie Goff and Pendleton resident Travis Welpott.

During qualifications, Blue set fast time with a lap of 12.894-seconds to edge out Terry Goff’s time of 12.917-seconds with Jason Goff posting the third quick time of 13.062-seconds.
