Chapman Keeps Streak Alive

(June 17, 2013) -  Curtis Chapman continued his dominance of the WMDH Thunder Car division with his sixth consecutive win on AERCO Heating & Cooling Night at Anderson Speedway.

For the second consecutive week Chapman pulled a rabbit out of his hat and left the father and son team of Tom and Trent Gossar wondering what it will take to score a feature win.

Trent Gossar took the early lead followed by his father, Tom, Chapman, Rob Allman and returning driver Bruce McFall.

The running order remained unchanged until lap four when Chapman tapped the rear bumper of Tom Gossar’s car, sending him spinning into the turn four outside retaining wall. Both drivers were able to continue, but were relegated to the rear of the field.

Chapman passed Allman on lap seven to move into the second spot and Tom Gossar used the outside line entering turn three to claim the third position on lap 13.

For 17 laps Trent Gossar was able to keep Chapman in the runner-up position, holding the low line and forcing Chapman to attempt to grab the lead with an outside groove pass.

With two laps remaining, Gossar got trapped behind a lapped car which allowed Chapman to pull even on the front straight and complete the pass coming off the second corner.

Chapman won by .175-seconds over Trent Gossar followed by Tom Gossar, Allman and Austin Russell.

In the only heat for the Thunder Cars, Trent Gossar led from start to finish to record his first victory of the year.

He was chased early in the contest by Allman, who slowed and stopped in the infield on lap four.

Chapman finished second followed by Tom Gossar, Jeff Hopkins and McFall.
