Dane Makes It Two In a Row

(April 14, 2014) - Jerry Dane made it a clean sweep in the Front Wheel Drive Oval Division by setting fast time, capturing a win in a heat race and then driving to his second consecutive feature victory.

Dane started fourth in the feature but was able to pass Adam Lee for the point on the second lap with an inside move entering turn one. Lee was able to hang close to Dane’s rear bumper until lap 11 when he suddenly slowed.

Marshall Clark suffered a flat tire will running third after four laps.

The first caution flag waved on lap seven when Randy Hoppes spun in turn three while running just outside of the top five.

With Dane on the point chased by Lee, third place running Jared Keller got a slow restart before his car regained power.

The final caution flag waved on lap 11 when Austin McKinney failed to heed the black-flag for his rear bumper cover dragging the track.

At the finish it was Dane winning by 1.9 seconds over Dylan Hoppes with Brandon Lee Cook, Ryan Claborn and Keller rounding out the top five.

Dylan Hoppes worked his way from the tenth starting position to move into the second space with a pass of Cook with five laps remaining to finish second.

In the first heat race, Cook took the early lead followed by Keller, Jeff Williams, Clark and Dane.

Keller took the lead on the second circuit from Cook with an inside move on the front straight while Dane was working his way up through the field.

Dane didn’t take the lead until the seventh lap when he got inside of Keller on the front straight and went on to the victory. Keller came home in second followed by Cook, Clark and Williams.

Jesse Thomas led the entire distance to win the second heat race chased the entire way by Randy Hoppes and Billy Hooten. Jacob Brown and Dylan Hoppes rounded out the top five.
