Ed Martin Auto Group Super Truck veteran Derrick Layne plans to compete in a part-time season in both the Ed Martin Auto Group Super Trucks and Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock division during the 2005 season at Anderson Speedway.

Layne placed fifth in the 2004 Super Truck point standings, producing one top-five finish and 10 top 10s. The Muncie competitor registered a season best effort of second-place on Saturday, September 4, during the Texas Roadhouse Racing Through the Night Weekend.

Scoring a first-career victory, Layne’s career highlight took place in October of 2003, earning the feature win in the Ed Martin Auto Group Super Truck division in the 6th Annual Weidner Chevrolet Stock Car Festival. He finished ahead of eventual series champions Josh Burton and Bret Miles in his initial victory.

Layne has been a regular fixture in the Super Truck division the past few seasons, finishing among the top 10 in the final standings on three occasions. He was ninth in 2003, eighth during the 2000 season and a career best fifth in 2004.

He also made a few appearances in the Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock division in 2004, placing 12th in the biggest event of the season, the Terry’s RV 150.

The upcoming season will also see Layne racing in Champion Racing Association sanctioned Street Stocks events at Winchester Speedway and a couple of special events at Salem Speedway in Southern Indiana.
