57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 Entry List Becomes to Take Form

As the month of April comes to a close, event entries for the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 have began to arrive in the Anderson Speedway office. Currently, 16 teams have submitted entries for the Sprint Car Classic slated for Saturday, May 28.

All-time victory leader Eric Gordon is among the early race entries. The Indianapolis racer will attempt to score his fifth consecutive win driving Jack French’s No. 2 with primary sponsorship from Pay Less.

Michigan’s Jeff Bloom returns in 2005, attempting to make his 29th career start. He has amassed three victories, five top five-finishes, seven top 10s and completed 6,097 laps.

Last year’s runner-up Aaron Pierce of Muncie, Ind., will pilot the No. 26 with sponsorship from Sam Pierce Chevrolet. Pierce finished second in the 6th Annual Glen Niebel Classic at Anderson Speedway on April 10.

Jason McCord has constructed an impressive Little 500 resume, posting six top 10s in 13 career starts. He tied his best career finish with crossing the finish line in fourth spot last year.

California’s Tony Hunt has performed outstanding in three starts and looks to record the elusive first victory in 2005. He made his debut in 2002, driving the Ken Pierson entry to a fourth place performance and earning Rookie of the Year honors. He also posted second and third place finishes the previous two events.

Leading the opening 152 laps in the 2004 Pay Less / Remy International Little 500, Levi Jones is back this year to contend for the race victory. He will drive for Nolen Racing with sponsorship from Keco.

USAC veteran Tracy Hines plans to make his first start in the historic event, teaming up with Hoffman Auto Racing in the No. 69 with backing from Kroger.

Tony Elliott, of Kokomo, Ind., finished sixth in the 2004 USAC Sprint Car standings and placed a career best third in the 1995 Little 500. He has amassed six top 10s and led 657 laps in competition.

Other drivers that will be involved in the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 include 2004 Rookie of the Year Paul White, 2002 runner-up Jonathan Vennard, Chris Hayes, Tim Barker, Donnie Adams Jr., D.C. Jessup, Tim Cox and Tom Fedewa.
