Aaron Pierce Paces Second Day of Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 Qualifying

Aaron Pierce of Muncie, Ind. paced final-day qualifiers for the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 USAC Special Event Sprint Car race Friday at Anderson Speedway as the 33-car field was filled and four cars were bumped.

Pierce will start 16th in the 33-car field, which will be paced by pole-winner Tom Fedewa of Dimondale, Mich. and fellow front-row starters Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. and Tim Barber of San Francisco, Calif.

In the field are three former winners and nine race rookies. Former winners include six-time defending champion Eric Gordon of Indianapolis, Ind., who is aiming at a record fifth consecutive victory; two-time champion Jeff Bloom of Bangor, Mich. and 1996 champ Steele.

The race offers the largest purse (over $120,000) in American pavement sprint car racing and a three-abreast, 33-car start.

On Saturday, May 28, the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 green flag waves at 8 p.m. Thirty-three Sprint Cars in 11 rows of 3 will be featured in the richest Sprint Car asphalt event.
