Defending Champion Parsley Tops Open Practice

Kentucky hot shot Bobby Parsley posted the fastest time in Thursday’s open practice session leading up to Saturday Night’s NationsRent 400 presented by Corteco and Great Deals at Anderson Speedway.

The defending NationsRent 400 winner and Sunoco Super Series Late Models Champion toured the quarter-mile oval in 12.108 seconds at 73.296 mph.

Canadian Legend Junior Hanley was second quickest, just 0.042 seconds behind Parsley’s top time with a lap of 12.150 seconds. Hanley finished second to Parsley in last years event and also notched a runner-up performance in 2000.

Daleville’s Bull Baker timed in third best with a lap of 12.240 seconds. Driving the Car Brite/Stoops Automotive Group Chevrolet, Baker is aiming for his third consecutive NationsRent 400 Pole Position on Friday Night.

J.R. Roahrig of South Bend and rookie Chris Gabehart tied for fourth-place honors in the open practice session with laps of 12.250 seconds. Roahrig placed third in last years event and Gabehart grabbed the fast qualifier honors in the initial appearance of the Sunoco Super Series at Anderson in April.


Activities for the 38th Annual NationsRent 400 presented by Corteco and Great Deals begin on Friday, July 16, with pole qualifying set for 8 p.m. The MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will also be featured with the McCrocklin Ford & Mobility Legends, Insight ThunderCars on the Oval and Figure 8 and Chappy's Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives.

On Saturday, July 17, a warm-up session is set for 5 p.m. with an on-track autograph session scheduled for 6. The 38th Annual NationsRent 400 presented by Corteco and Great Deals goes green at 8. General admission tickets for the event are $18 in advance and $20 on race day.
