Hamilton, Warner and Harmon Win on Friday Night

The MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series kicked off at Anderson Speedway on May 4, with Kenyon Midgets, ThunderCars and Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval an Figure 8 action.

Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. led the final 14 laps to win the 30-lap USAC Kenyon Midget feature. Hamilton passed Ryan Miller on lap 17 and led the rest of the way in his Curtis Motor Sales/WKLU Radio Yamaha to beat Jeff Wimmenauer, Tyler Cottongim, Miller and Megan Wood. Caleb Armstrong and Dillon Welch won heat races.

Anderson’s Nick Warner continued his dominance in the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives Figure 8’s. Johnathon Pitts led the opening two circuits with Travis Burge atop the leaderboard on the third lap. Warner completed the race-winning pass on the fourth go-around and then led the duration of the 10-lap showdown. Burge grabbed second-place honors with Donnie Ellis Jr. in third place. Dennis Farver Sr. and Jeff Wright completed the top five.

For the second consecutive week, Nick Warner recorded two feature victories in one night. Warner second feature win took place in the ThunderCars in dramatic fashion. Paris Swallows held the lead in the feature until Nick Warner made a late-race charge. Warner passed Alice Riall for runner-up honors and then bypassed Swallows on the final circuit to secure the victory. Brad Stevens was third with Riall and Jack Taylor filling out the top five.

Tom Tacket earned the heat race victory with Warner posting the best qualifying lap with an official clocking of 15.147 seconds.

Kevin Harmon continued his superb early season performances with winning his second Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval feature. Harmon darted into the first place from his front row starting position and never looked back, leading all 15 circuits. Behind the race winner were Troy Snow, Tony Crum, Devin Mitchell and Bryan Wright.

In the preliminary action, Devin Mitchell won the first heat race with Allen Wagner grabbing the winning hardware in the second heat.

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, May 5, with the USAC Regional Midgets, Kenyon Midgets, Ford Focus Midgets and Figure 8’s. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
