Checkered Flags for Beaver, Allman and Hoppes

Opening Points night at Anderson Speedway saw plenty of excitement as Joe Beaver, Ron Allman and Randy Hoppes won their respective races.

Smokin’ Joe Beaver took the checkered flag for the Ed Martin Chevrolet Supertrucks in the first race of the evening. Brian Lemmer and Scott Brooks won Heats 1 and 2 respectively. Beaver took the lead with just thirteen laps remaining and held off Brian Lemmer to take the first race of the season for the SuperTrucks.

Ronnie Rose was third, Scott Brooks fourth and Derrick Layne took fifth.

The Street Stocks were next on the program with Rob Allman l leading every lap of the event. Allman won Heat #2 with Jon Conklin winning Heat #1.Josh Ebbert and Kevin Rudisill both spun twice during the race to bring out the yellow flag. Jeff Perry came home third, Wes Russell, Jr. fourth and Ronnie Rose fifth.

The Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro division saw some exciting racing as Randy Hoppes won the race. Hoppes ran near the front most of the race and took the lead with just a few laps to go. Nick Warner finished second, Trevor About ran third, Gary Bragg, Jr. fourth and Kevin Claborn came in fifth.

Excitement happened on lap 6 as sparks flew from Jerry Baker’s car #19 coming out of turn four. Baker wasn’t injured in the incident and luckily didn’t collect any other cars.

Rob Allman visited victory lane for the second time of the evening in the Immediadent Figure 8 Feature. Ronnie Rose led most of the race, but was involved in an incident on lap 14 and finished second. Ranny Hinton came in third, Nick Warner fourth and Jeff Swinford finished fifth.

Racing resumes today as the USAC National Midgets return to the high banks along with the USAC Kenyon Midgets. Gates open at 11:00 with racing beginning at 2:00.
