Gallaway, Councellor, Williams and Keller Grab Friday Night Wins

Grant Gallaway grabbed the Kenyon Midget headliner in the WLBC / MAX Friday Night Summer Series at Anderson Speedway while Steven Councellor notched the ThunderCar win. Jeff Williams captured the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Amateur feature checker and Andy Keller was awarded the Figure 8 main.

A tremendous five car, nose to tail battle developed early in the Kenyon Midget feature with Grant Gallaway going to the point quickly from his inside, row #2 starting position. Gallaway never shook the competition but led them the distance. Trailing were Drew Charlson, Dalton Armstrong, Dillon Welch and Jeff Wimmenauer rounding out the top five. Welch and Gallaway were heat winners with Wimmenauer fast timer at 12.613 seconds.

Steven Councellor took advantage of his pole position starting spot in the half inverted ThunderCar field as he sailed on to his first feature victory leading flag to flag. Following were Tom Tackett, Hannah Lundy, Lonny Burton and Sam Folsom in that order. Travis Burge was the heat winner with Folsom fast qualifier at 15.198 seconds.

The best way to describe the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Amateur headliner was awesome. There were 7 lead changes among four different drivers with Ron Phipps and Jeff Williams exchanging the lead 5 times in seven laps! Williams took control in the last 5 laps to send the 14 year old rookie to victory for the first time in his career. Rounding out the top five were Kevin Harmon, Phipps, Jared Keller and Ray Zirkle. Zirkle picked up his first win ever in the heat. Harmon was also a heat winner with Jared Keller fast timer at 16.335 seconds.

In the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8, Tony Torres was the early leader before being passed on lap 8 by Andy Keller. Torres pressured Keller until coming for the white flag there was contact with Torres re-taking the lead and Keller doing a 360 spin but hanging onto second. Following the checker, race control relegated Torres to the tail of the lead lap for rough driving, vaulting Andy Keller to the win over Harry LaShure, Peter Corsaro, Torres and Tim Harrod.

On Saturday, August 16, the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprint Cars return for their final visit of the season at Anderson Speedway. The Street Stocks, ImmediaDent Figure 8’s and KOIL Legends will also be in action on Saturday night.

On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
