Magee and Warner Record Enduro Victories

Johnny Magee and Nick Warner had big paydays Saturday evening at Anderson Speedway as Magee captured the $3,000 to win Thundercar Enduro while Warner was the overall winner in the Inaugural $750 to win Ed Maynard Memorial 100 for the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives This brought a close to the 2008 racing season.

The Thundercar Enduro was a very competitive event with the lead changing hands nine times. Magee, Nick Warner and Ronnie Phipps were the main players as they swapped the lead any time they could catch the other one trapped in traffic. 27 of the original 53 starters answered the call to begin the second half of the race after the break. Magee led 100 thru 136 before Warner would get in front but only for a lap. Magee jumped right back in front on lap 138 and stayed on the point thru lap 179. Warner trapped Magee in traffic and re-took the lead on lap 180 only to see Magee take it back on a re-start on lap 189.

Warner made a valiant effort to get around Magee on the final lap as he even spun Magee across the finish line. Following Magee and Warner to the checker were Ronnie Phipps, Rob Allman and Eddie Wolf. Ronnie Rose was fast qualifier at 15.003 seconds.

Fifty-one Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives went into battle in the Inaugural Ed Maynard Memorial 100 presented by Battery Masters and Great Deals Coupon Magazine. It was divided into two 50 features with an overall points winner decided. In feature #1 the lead changed hands five times with Travis Burge leading most of the laps. Burge's mount failed on lap 42 vaulting Nick Warner to the lead and the first checker defeating Ronnie Phipps, Kevin Harmon, Trevor Abbot and Kevin Claborn in that order.

In feature #2, Todd Yarberry led the first 8 circuits before being headed by Tony Hackney. Rickie Tharp made the race winning pass on lap in traffic on lap 27 and went on to victory. Trailing Big Dawg were Nick Warner, Randy Hoppes, Eddie Claborn and Ronnie Phipps. Nick Warner was declared the overall champion by having the lowest point total. Rounding out the top five overall were Ronnie Phipps, Rickie Tharp, Trevor Abbott and Eddie Claborn. Trevor Abbott was fast qualifier at 15.698 seconds.
