Phipps Wins Figure 8 Feature; Chapman Scores Heat Victory
Anderson's Rod Phipps took the lead at the start of the
Figure-8 feature and held off Curtis Chapman for 20 laps to record the win.

Phipps was challenged early in the event by fast-qualifier Josh Tharp, who slowed on the fifth lap, giving Chapman the second spot.

There was plenty of action during the feature behind the front
running cars. Artie Wair made contact with the turn one outside retaining wall on lap four and on lap 16 the caution flag waved when Tim Nickerson and Jason Pitts got together exiting the second corner while battling for the third spot.

Trailing Phills and Chapman to the checkers was Shawn Cullen, James Peterson and Pitts.

Terry Malone Jr. took the early lead in the heat race with an inside pass of Nickerson on lap two and was pulling away from the field when he was black-flagged on lap six for besting his qualifying time.

That put Peterson on the point but he spun in the crossover on lap seven and Chapman was able to slip past him and Cullen to take the lead.

Chapman recorded his third heat win of the season followed by Cullen and Tharp.
