Chapman Makes It Two for Two in Figure 8 Action; Plenty of Cross Over Action

(April 26, 2011) – For the second time this season Curtis Chapman held off Nick Warner to capture the Figure-8 feature win last Saturday at Anderson Speedway.

Fans were treated to the best Figure-8 race of the young season as driver’s bopped and weaved their way through the crossover. Jeff Hopkins particularly delighted the fans, as he appeared never to slow when approaching the “x”.

Ronnie Phipps took the early lead, but Chapman got to the inside coming off the second corner on lap three and Warner followed suit.

For the remaining 21 laps Warner stayed glued to Chapman’s rear bumper but was unable to make an attempt to grab the lead.

Several times Warner survived a close call in the crossover, somehow finding enough room to squeeze between two cars.

Phipps finished third followed by Josh Tharp and Bruce McFall.

Chapman passed James Peterson on the second lap of the heat race using an outside move off of turn two to claim the point. Warner got inside of Peterson and Phipps in turn two on the sixth lap to run second to Chapman.

At the finish Phipps followed Chapman and Warner to the checkers, with Peterson and Mcfall rounding out the top five.
