Myers Scores EDCO Welding Street Stock Victory; Marsh Records Heat Win

(April 29, 2012) – Veteran competitor Josh “Country” Myers showed plenty of patience in the early stages of the EDCO Welding Street Stock feature last Saturday at Anderson Speedway to record his first victory of the season.

Myers took the early lead but was passed by Jimmy Kirby going down the back straight with an inside pass entering turn three. The pair was chased closely by Rickie Tharp.

On the 17th lap, Myers was able to get inside of Kirby entering turn three and completed the pass on the front straight. Myers took the checkers followed by Kirby, Tharp, Tyler Marsh and Danny Adams.

Myers set quick time during qualifications followed by Tharp and Billy VanMeter. VanMeter suffered a flat tire on the warm-up laps for the feature and was unable to make the repairs in time for the race.

In the heat race, Marsh took the lead at the start and led the entire distance with Kirby in hot pursuit. Myers climbed from sixth to third passing first Frankie Oakes and Tharp with outside passes on the back and front straight.

Tharp and Oakes rounded out the top five behind Marsh, Kirby and Myers.
