Warner Holds Off Lundy for Win

By Ken de la Bastide

(July 1, 2012) –
Starting on the pole position for the WMDH Thunder Car feature Nick Warner led the entire distance to record his feature of the year.

But over the final 22 laps Warner was challenged by fast qualifier Hannah Lundy. Lundy got inside of second place running Rob Allman entering turn three and for most of the race was only two car lengths off Warner’s rear bumper.

There was plenty of action in the feature event, which started on lap two when Mike Peters spun going down the back straight and made contact with the turn three wall.

On the restart the cars of Adam Bolyard, Jeff Hopkins, Eddie Richardson and Ryan Buckner all got together on the back straight. Only Richardson was able to continue.

While battling for third on lap six, Allman got inside of Phil Jenkins when contact was made in turn three. Jenkins spun and both drivers were sent to the tail.

On lap 15 Allman got inside of Jenkins coming off the fourth corner to claim the fourth position.

Finishing behind Warner and Lundy were Earl Adams II, Allman and Jenkins.

“The car drove like a truck,” joked Warner after his victory in reference to sponsor Travis Truck. “We got the car ready in an hour and a half with a lot of help.”
