Warner Smokes the Competition

By Ken de la Bastide

(July 10, 2012) –
Driving a new car purchased from Jerry Dane, Nick Warner scored his third feature win in G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive oval action on WMDH Night at Anderson Speedway.

Ron Phipps took the early lead in the feature followed by Warner, Marshall Clark Jr., Don Gallaher and Trevin Henson.

Gallaher used a power move down the back straight to slip past both Clark and Warner to move into the second position.

The caution flag waved on lap four when Mike Shepherd hit the turn two wall and collected Phipps, who was forced to the pit area with a rear suspension problem.

That put Gallaher on the point for the double-file restart, but Warner wsa able to use the high line to his advantage and grab the top spot. The two ran almost nose to tail for much of the event until Gallaher lost momentum when he slowed for lapped traffic.

Warner recorded the win followed by Gallaher, Clark, Henson and Paul Phipps.

Gallaher won the first heat race getting inside of Paul Phipps coming off the second corner on lap four. Ron Phipps moved into the second spot on lap five going down the back straight and Henson to inside of Paul Phipps entering turn three.

Warner finished fourth followed by Keith Morris.

Jeff Williams dominated the first half of the second heat race until he was black flagged for turning laps faster than he qualified at earlier in the evening.

That gave the lead to James Frawley, but on lap eight William Harris got inside exiting the fourth corner to assume the lead.

Harris scored his first heat win of the year followed to the checkers by Frawley, Michelle Cutsinger, Williams and Shepherd.
