(July 30, 2012) –
Although Mike Alley entered the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive Figure-8 point standings, he had failed to win a feature race, that all changed last Saturday at Anderson Speedway.

Alley started sixth in the field following the inversion after setting quick time but using the high line found himself running second to Donnie Ellis Jr. after one lap.

On the next circuit, Alley used the outside lane to grab the lead from Ellis on the back straight.

For the next 13 circuits Ellis would remain in close contact with Alley with Mark Allman running third. Marshall Clark Jr. making a rare Figure-8 start got inside of Rickie Craig on the eighth lap entering turn three to grab the fourth start.

Alley won by less than a second over Ellis with Allman, Clark and Craig rounding out the top five.

Ellis slid across the finish line to win the heat race following a tight battle with Nick Warner.

Harry Lashure took the early lead followed by Warner and Ellis. Warner moved into the lead on the second lap and on the next circuit Ellis was running second.

For the next three laps Ellis stayed glued to the rear bumper of Warner’s car and finally got inside to take the lead on the back straight.

Although he was out front Ellis could not pull away from Warner, who kept looking for a way to reclaim the point.

Coming off turn four on the penultimate lap, Warner got inside of Ellis on the back straight. The two made contact near the cross-over with Ellis sliding sidewalks across the stripe to record the win.

Warner finished second followed by Alley, Allman and Craig.
