Edsall Wins, Retires

Ken de la Bastide

(August 27, 2012) –
During the 2011 season James Edsall III was the dominant driver in Thunder Roadster action at Anderson Speedway.

In making his first appearance of 2012 last Saturday, Edsall had a perfect night. He set fast time during qualifications, won the first heat race and then captured the 50-lap feature.

Immediately after winning the feature event, Edsall announced that he was retiring from competition.

Edsall took the lead from David Lobbia on lap 21 of the 50 lap feature when Lobbia bobbled coming off the second corner, which allowed the pass for the lead.

Chris Weddel got inside of Lobbia entering turn three on lap 22.

Lobbia led the first 20 laps chased early by Larry Fritz, who make contact with the front straight wall on lap seven.

That moved Nate Shrout into the second position with Weddel running third. At that point Edsall passed both drivers on lap nine to move into the second position.

In the first lap Edsall passed Shrout on lap eight to collect the win after running fourth early in the race. Darrell Brown followed him through the field to finish second with Shrout holding on for third.

The second heat victory was recorded by Weddel, who took over the point from Doug Dugger on lap three with an inside pass entering turn three. Fritz finished third.
