Henson On A Hot Streak; Pumpkin Car Scores Fourth Win

By Ken de la Bastide

(September 24, 2012) –
Kevin Henson saved his best for the end of the 2012 season in the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive Figure-8 competition powering the familiar orange colored car to his fourth consecutive win.

Henson has won three G.W. Pierce Division features and won the last IOFS feature at Anderson Speedway.

Henson took the lead at the start and was chased the entire distance by Elliott McKinney, who was the fast qualifier.

Although McKinney was able to stay close to Henson early in the race, Henson went on to win by 1.3-seconds with Mark Allman finishing third.

Henson got his second heat win by leading the entire distance with Mike Alley claiming the second spot as the leaders mixed it up on the final lap.

The big loser in the skirmish was Allman who had been running second entering the final lap. Alley got around both Allman and McKinney to record the runner-up finish. McKinney, Allman and Donnie Ellis Jr. rounded out the top five.

The second heat saw Jeremy Acree lead the entire distance, to record his first ever win in competition at the Anderson Speedway. Harry Lashure finished second followed by Brian McKinney.

During qualifications Elliott McKinney tied the track record for the division.

McKinney turned a lap at 20.312-seconds to match the lap recorded by Alley on June 12.
