Kirby Sweeps EDCO Welding Street Stock Title

(September 24, 2012) – It has been an extraordinary year for Jimmy Kirby in EDCO Welding Street Stock competition and last Saturday was no exception.

Kirby recorded his third quick time on Ed Martin Auto Mall Championship night, win a heat race for the sixth time and scored his fourth feature victory.

By dominating the competition in 2012, Kirby claimed his first track championship at Anderson Speedway.

Kirby led all 40 laps of the feature, but he was hotly pursued by Ronnie Rose throughout the race.

Rose looked high and low in an attempt to wrestle the lead from Kirby, who never made a mistake. Kirby did pull away from Rose over the final five laps to win by .685-seconds.

Tyler Marsh climbed from the fifth spot after the first lap to finish third, passing Andrew Cook and Ronnie Phipps along the way with inside passes exiting turn two and on the back straight.

Phipps came home in fourth followed by Cook, who spun on lap 23 coming off the fourth corner, but didn’t bring out the caution flag.

In the heat race, Kirby took advantage of the outside line on a restart with five laps remaining to get around Rose for the victory.

Behind Kirby and Rose were Marsh, Phipps and Cook.
