Speedway returns to action this Saturday Night, April 30, the Star Press Saturday Night Series returns with the Ed
Martin Auto Group Super Trucks, Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stocks, Boss
Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s and the season debut of the Legends.
Ed Martin Auto Group Super Truck action, Tony Broyles has began the season on a
solid note with two top-five finishes and two fast times. He leads defending
division champion Josh Burton by 56 points. Third in the standings is Tom Miller
with Bob Lemen and Steve Blair completing the top five.
Two feature victories in the opening three events propelled Rich Boyer to first
position in the Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock point standings. Second
in the rundown is Rod Phipps, who has recorded one victory and two runner-up
finishes. Phipps trails Boyer by 97 markers. The remainder of the top five
includes Anderson’s Curtis Chapman, Ronnie Phipps, who is filling in for Darwin
Blankenship and Lapel’s Dennis Moser.
great Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s points battle has already developed
with the top five drivers separated by just 75 points. Last year’s champion Jeff
Swinford is atop the standings, nine markers ahead of 2003 champion Ronnie Rose.
Third in the standings is Rod Phipps with new track record holder Jason Pitts in
fourth and Ronnie Phipps completing the top five.
Legends will make their 2005 debut on Saturday Night and 2004 runner-up John
Robbins is one of the pre-season favorites to challenge for the title. Other top
10 contenders from last year expected to compete for the title include 2003
champion Eric Black, two-time winner Daniel Russell, 2002 titlist Homer Adams
Jr., Clark Dietzen, Mark Dietzen and Scott McGinley.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12.
