J.D. Byrider Weekend of Power Set for Friday and Saturday

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action with the 3rd Annual J.D. Byrider Weekend of Power. On Friday, August 19, the MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will showcase Legends, Insight ThunderCars in Oval and Figure 8 racing along with Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.

On Saturday, August 20, The Star Press Saturday Night Series features the Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTrucks in the J.D. Byrider 150. The Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stocks and Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s will also be showcased on the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval.

Albany’s Daniel Russell continues to pace the Legends division after recording nine feature victories in 10 events. He holds a 144 point advantage on Speedway’s T.J. Sneva, who has produced nine top-10 finishes. Third in the points rundown is Elwood’s John Robbins with Scott McGinley and Eric Black rounding out the top five.

Alice Riall extended her lead in the Insight ThunderCar Oval division after posting an 11th top-five finish of the season. Anderson’s Brandon Phillips ranks second, just 19 points behind Riall. Third is Billy Riddle, who has collected three feature wins and 13 top-10 finishes. The remainder of the top five includes Roy Grissom Sr. and William Coffman.

The Insight ThunderCar Figure 8’s features a great point’s battle between Terry Malone Jr. and Paris Swallows. After 17 of 23 events, Malone holds a 35 point margin on Swallows. Third is Billy Riddle with Roy Grissom Sr. and Robert Brumback filling out the top five.

Dustin Burge continues a remarkable season in the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval division. He holds a 63 point advantage on Sam Folsom. Heading into this weekend, Burge has produced four feature wins and 17 top-10 finishes while Folsom has collected four checkered flags and 12 top fives. Nick Warner is third with Brad Stevens fourth and Travis Erhart advancing to fifth position.

In Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 competition, Nick Warner leads Randy Owen by 165 markers. Warner has drove to eight wins and 16 top fives while Owen has 17 top-10 finishes on his resume. The remainder of the top five includes Allen Wagner, Chris Teepe and Travis Burge.

On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.

The biggest event of the Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTruck season is set for Saturday Night, when the track’s premier division is featured in the 3rd Annual J.D. Byrider 150. New Castle’s Tony Broyles enters the event with the point’s lead after recording 10 top-five finishes and 12 top 10s. He leads the Tim Bennett owned SuperTruck now driven by Joe Beaver by 673 points. Third is Andrew Brown with Robert Lemen and Ronnie Rose rounding out the top five.

Rich Boyer continues his march to a third consecutive Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock championship after notching a division leading 12th feature victory on Saturday, August 13. He holds a 458 point margin on Rod Phipps. Four consecutive runner-up finishes have solidly placed Danny Acrey ll third with Ryan Buckner and Bruce McFall completing the top five.

The Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s features a tremendous battle for the 2005 division crown. With five events remaining, Anderson’s Curtis Chapman leads Mike Riddle Jr. by 58 markers. Defending division champion Jeff Swinford dropped to third spot with Michael Phipps fourth and Ronnie Phipps fifth.

On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8. The Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTruck drivers that will compete in the J.D. Byrider 150 have an autograph session scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
