Some familiar names graced the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winners Circle during the MyNDY Family Night at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, September 16. The three regular divisions from The Star Press Saturday Night Series filled out the card.

The 30-lap Lampco Federal Credit Union Street Stock feature turned into a rout as Muncie’s Bret Miles Jr. took the lead after a lap 14 restart and never looked back for his third victory of 2006. Rod Phipps, who was relegated to the back of the pack as a result of a turn 4 incident that preceded the restart, was able to work his way back up to second by the time the checkered flag appeared. The remainder of the top five included Ryan Buckner, Yorktown’s Willy DeHart and Alexandria’s John Lundy.

DeHart took the first Street Stock heat, while Anderson’s Jon Conklin was victorious in the second heat. Rod Phipps led qualifying with a time of 14.371 seconds.

Anderson’s Ronnie Rose took the lead from the start and won the 40-lap Ed Martin SuperTruck feature. It was Rose’s third victory of the season and his second in a row. The best racing occurred for positions second through fifth as Greenfield’s Josh Burton, Noblesville’s Joe Beaver, Indianapolis’s Bob Lemen and Muncie’s Andrew Brown battled it out.

Beaver took top honors in the first SuperTruck heat with John Wicks of Ypsilanti, Mich., making his first-ever appearance on the World’s Fastest Quarter Mile a memorable one as he won the second heat. Lemen set the best mark in qualifying with time of 13.578 seconds.

A five-car battle for the top spot highlighted the Boss Hogg Jerky and Catering Figure 8 feature. Noblesville’s Jeff Swinford jumped to the top spot from the start and led the field the entire way. Fellow Noblesville driver Shawn Cullen, Anderson’s Rob Allman, Middletown’s Elliott McKinney and Phipps maintained that order over the final 12 laps for the nose-to-tail top five-finish.

Swinford completed the sweep by also taking the first Figure 8 heat. Anderson’s Ranny Hinton took the victory in the second heat. McKinney paced qualifying with a mark of 19.373 seconds.

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Friday, September 22 with the MAX/WBLC Friday Night Summer Series featuring Newco Metals Legends, Insight ThunderCars, Pro ThunderCars and Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.

On Saturday, September 23, The Ed Martin Auto Group Night at the Races will include USA Modifieds, Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTrucks and Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s.
